Once upon a time – online!
Imagine if when jack climbed that giant beanstork, instead of finding a giants castle and a goose, he found a laptop? What trouble could our favourite fairytale characters get into if they only had internet access? Well in once upon a time online we find out exactly that! This beautifully illustrated, brilliantly witty story with a fun rhyme that runs though it, is fun for younger readers (and older ones!) with a good moral message for children in this internet age.
When Jack, of Jack and the beanstalk fame, finds a parcel that falls from the sky, he isn’t sure what the strange shiny thing inside is so he takes it along to Cinderella. Cinderella knew exactly what it was and wasted no time at all in ordering everything she needed to be bell of the ball – who needs a fairy godmother when you have a laptop!
Soon lots of our favourite fairytale characters are getting in on the action from little red riding hood to the big bad wolf and the 3 little pigs, and it all looks as though they are going to live happily ever after until, Cinderella receives a big bill! And its at that point that the it all starts to go wrong thankfully they have a fairy godmother to help them out!
Mimi has enjoyed this book over and over again and it has been a fun book for me to read to her, although she is a little young to understand the cautionary message about being online on different devises, it wont belong till she is and this story will help open a dialogue. It is also a fun story in its own right!
