Try It Tuesday – making meatballs !!!

image

So this week I decided to give making my own meatballs a go.

for this I used

500g lean mince

1 onion – finely chopped

2 tsp’s of oragano

1 egg

And for the sauce

tinned tomatoes

mushrooms – cleaned and sliced

To make my meat balls I started by putting the mince meat, chopped onion and the oragano in to a bowl and with my freshly washed hands combined them I then added the egg to help bind it all together. Once combined shape into small balls – I was able to make 18 even shaped golf ball sized meat balls, I then placed them in a box and put them in the fridge

I made a basic tomato pasta sauce using chopped tinned tomatoes that I liquidised. I fried the mushrooms and then added the toms, bought it to the boil and then turned it down to a simmer. I heated some oil in a large frying pan and then got the meat balls out of the fridge and when the oil was hot I fried the meat balls until they were almost cooked all the way though (about 5mins.) I then added my sauce to the the meat balls and cooked for a further 3 or 4 mins before serving with pasta and garlic bread.
